I visited Rosslyn Chapel many years ago and like most people I was very impressed.
This particular set of photographs, however, were taken relatively recently but before photography was forbidden inside the chapel. The place had already become a place of pilgramage for readers of 'The Da Vinci Code' which was published in 2003.
It is a very curious place. Founded in 1446 by Sir William St Clair, third and last Prince of Orkney, it is in fact only part of what was intended to be a much larger building.
After Sir William died in 1484, he was buried in the unfinished Chapel and the larger building was never completed.
